Zeus Era Terror

In this day and time we have our terror, but nothing matches the Zeus era horror.

Poem Artwork

Back during the days of Zeus,
life was one great big abuse.
Being a witch got one burned
at the stake,
sometimes lords and kings
didn't even get a break.
Head removing was routine,
especially on the guillotine.
Many stories unfold,
about heads that did roll.

Heads rolled right in a basket,
sometimes they didn't even
use a casket.
After a person went down,
they'd bury them right in the ground.
Or feed them to the local alligators,
too the show of the dictators,
or maybe the cheering spectators.

They even had lions and tigers
in the arena,
nothing could have been meaner,
than to watch gladiators eaten alive,
while they fought to survive.
In the modern world there's no Zeus,
then again the politicians are lose.

Still I'm glad to be born in
these days and times,
where there are lesser crimes,
and humanity moreso sublimes.

I can think of a few heads that should roll this era.
Thanks for giving me such a delightful perspective on mythology.
Makes me want to go back and reread.

I wish I could agree that things have improved, Grady. When I ponder on the condition of the world right now, I'm not so sure at all. Thank you for sharing this, friend. Love and peace to you,

Regis

I hear you. Sliding down the sword, or being fed to the lions was never very appealing to me. love holly

I really enjoyed this poem. Especially the comparison to modern day politicians.
