I actually won an award for this poem when I was a child.. 11 or 12 as I recall..

Do you ever wonder … Who I am? What I'm like or where I've been? Do you ever stop and wonder.. If I might look like you? The color of my eyes? Yes, my eyes are blue. I have thought of you so often. Every night in my dreams.. I dreamt that you might want me. That the world is not as cold as it seems. Have you guessed who I am yet? Do you even want to know? Have you guessed that I’m the little girl… You left so long ago. The one that was forgotten. The one you have never seen. The one who wants to know.. If she is ever in your dreams. Erica G Ivory

Wow... that last line was a punch and so powerful. Almost youthful, yet mature, too, and has quite a vibe of its own. Great writing.
