Floods hit Somalia almost twice every year and it seems that the hit will go on for a long time if a proper government to restore law and order is not installed soon and it can never be installed unless the Somalis agree to to do away with these wars that cost the lives of no less than a million people in the past 17 years.

Water water everywhere
But they are not water
Not at least drinkable
But people drink them
Unfit for washing either
Yet with them people wash
They are the only water available
They are dirty waters of the river
They are the soil-rich flood waters
They flood in this region every season
Their arrival is more of a ritual
Than a mere burst of river to its banks
They strike with incalculable damage
Letting clusters of villages to sink
While inhabitants flee for their safety
On top of the trees they build shelter
But they shall not be alone in the makeshift
As night creatures seldom pay a visit
Flood tragedy is a natural catastrophe
But it should not repeat every season
While we need construction of water dams
Or commit funds for maintaining the
facility
They invest resources in tribal wars
Never bothering the plight of their people
They are the blood-thirsty political stalwarts
They are the dodgy criminals of the time
They are the insurgents who plant landmines
They are the government of no government
They are the killers of a nation and its people
