a WordStar, which begat

need to exceed and dominate--
a more perfect Word.
All were facsimiles of the other,
playing a game of one-upmanship
in the race to not become
the penultimate collection of black dots
interspersed and arranged
in a convenient array,
across a flat white light bulb
that blinds eyes straining hard
to see, theirs and others
thoughts, typed into Windows
. . . the Apples of electronic souls.
Flash! This Light is eternal. It will go on blinking long
