This was originally posted with a second poem wishing my son a Happy Birthday.

JEFFREY

A baby boy was born
with fire-engine red hair.
He was cute as a button
and had energy to spare.

He never bothered with crawling.
He went straight to run.
Many sleepless nights were brought on
by this adorable little one.

He grew like a weed
as is typical of little boys.
He played with his neighborhood friends
sharing all his little toys.

In Middle School
he played lots of football.
His best friend's name was Chucky,
who was as round as he was tall.

He didn't much like High School,
but did go most days.
Occasionally though, he'd skip
just to stay home and play.

A grown-up now
who has seen good times and bad.
He'll always be that red-headed boy
to his mom and his dad.

May the days ahead
bring you bunches of love and smiles.
Be grateful for those around you
as you continue through life's future miles.

So true. I'll forever see my son as a nipper. Even though he now towers over me.
