Casting Shadows

Light deflects, holds, surrounds me
casting a stalker shadow
who, I pretend, is family.
I'm forced to choose the 'sun' side
to keep her happy, content.
She's slimmer, bolder and tall--
my shadow upon the wall.

Kissed by light, she's everywhere
following ... can't/won't stop her.
Without her I am lonely,
drown in my own misery.
Let her stick, hide, by my side
as others Z O O M on past me.
She reflects quite pleasantly.

Invisibles tend to slide--
not casting ANY shadows--
alone, blanketed in dark.
A network, quilt, of parties
keeps insanity at bay.
Casting shadows, careened through life,
would've preferred titles: Mom, Wife.

This is a master piece of emotional tug and take. Yes the lonliness of a single sometimes brings the brunt of what if but then again looking back through the eyes of the mother and wife you may hear the words...dam I would kill for ten minutes to call my own...

Well said and perhaps truer than you think. Then we are left with what, when we could have had so much more out of life...

Be safe,
Karen

Yes it's the shadows which haunt
us. Very good, Sandy!
