We drove around a neighbourhood in Tulsa
and saw the dogs:
Afghan Hounds
Airedale Terriers
Akitas
American Eskimo Dogs
American Foxhounds
American Water Spaniels
Bearded Collies
Border Collies
Border Terriers
dogs on leads, dogs smelling trees,
everyone seemed to be walking their dog.
I've got a lead in a drawer somewhere
and it's tugging at me now.
I enjoyed your poem. Grew up with dogs and have one now, black, mostly lab retriever mutt who thinks he's a person and tells on my offspring. Don't know what I do without him. Your poem's delightful. ~~Nordette
Dogs are wonderful they give back so much more than we give them. They honor us and adore us and they even will protect us with their life if necessary. I believe that they are really angels in dog wrap. Nice poem, Kenny.

So there it is: proof that what we humans so condescendingly refer to as "a dog's life" is in fact of a kind of loving ministry bestowed by the canine species upon our own:-)
