MESSAGE FROM A LOST SOUL

He walked along the barren shore, the sky was cold and grey
The only soul, to brave the winds, that dark November day
No seagulls soaring, through the skies, he was a man alone
He walked on broken sea shells, the waves had mixed with stones

A wind came up and blew his Yankee cap right off his head
He chased it down the shoreline, he followed where it lead
Over dunes it whipped and spun, the rested on some rocks
He climbed to where it landed, and then his eyes took stock

Underneath some seaweed, a glimmer caught his eye
Lunging forward towards his cap, he grabbed it on the fly
He saw an old wine bottle, lying on its side
Locked behind a stubborn cork, was parchment curled inside

In awe he held the bottle, that traveled endless seas
A message sent from long ago, no doubt a desperate plea
He felt the winds full fury, it pushed him to his door
The mystery behind the cork, the puzzle to explore

At home, he took the bottle, and eased the paper out
Words of desperation, hopefulness and doubt
Written with a dark red blood, it made his heart turn cold
He said a prayer, and shed a tear, for all the sea's lost souls

Well, Anita Pax, welcome back. I'm still coming in, I enlisted, but a month ago, thru, encouragement from a friend. I got a lot more of that, as I posted my first, poems and such. The kind words, and praise, gave me, a very prolific pen, and my heart did they touch. So that, explains, why, in my first, 30 days, I wrote, so damn, much.

So now I've met another character, as, we all, surely are. This one, as so many others, seems: a bright, shining, star.-- Art.
Great stuff. I just read three or four. You're a talented lady. Thank you for your review, and I hope you enjoy more of my writes.

Anita,
You have much soul in a woman of wisdom and wit. You surely must be a character who people admire and love. I find your verses irresistable myself and am urged to search for more. Thank you Anita...I will enjoy more of your poems tonight.

An unusual form and narrative slant for you, my Dear, but you still pull the reader in and wrap your poetic fingers round them in your enticing and compelling way. Whether you write with humour or passion, COMpassion is always tightly interwoven into your work, revealing your tender heart and soulful, realist nature. This is a poignant portrait which touches the mind and heart in equal measure. Bless you - and thank you for your Easter Skippity messages... hope you is still hopping after all the chocolate!! :)) PS - LOVE all the humour you send my way, too!! Deeply appreciated from within my, at times, ghoulish catacombs. TY Kate xx

Message in a bottle - that is something that always fascinated me. Thinking about the person who might have sent it, about his fate.
You created a great poem. Brava !

Thoughts in a bottle. While the bottle remains adrift its contents are abstract, just so much flotsam in a vast sea. Then the message is recieved as its spoken and it becomes something concrete... Oh, to hell with it. I enjoyed this poem a lot.

The story line is just FLAMING BLOODY GOOD! This is a really good soul cry. I absolutely love this. AND DO I HAVE SOME PICTURES FOR YOU .....seeing this reminded me of how I sat on those rocks in Norway and wrote my tail off. This was a fine piece to feast my eyes on!

Thank you,

a wonderful tribute to all those who have perished looking for their soul.
