PARADISE

Sit by the shore.

I don’t need more.

The orange sun sets for me.

I’m as happy as can be.

Florida is paradise.

Its sand feels smooth and so nice.

The nights might be cold.

Demons roam I’m told.

But enjoy the salty air.

Until the vampires come near.

Like others, I've never been to Florida, but perhaps the demons and vampires could roam the beaches of California and Oregon.

More likely the crabs will come on shore and jellyfish will sting the unaware.

I never understood why people consider the beach to be some kind of paradise. I find beaches to be noisy, windy, dirty, and really too hot to sit out all day in the sun. Until a cold front come through and the beaches are freezing. Mosquitoes and flies are relentless and the riptide, dangerous.

Yours is a nice reminder of why I am going to the
shore tonight at dusk to watch the sun go down over
the Gulf. Sipping wine with my life's partner.

That's why I keep my home base as Florida. The sunsets are glorious, reminiscent of paradise.
