I’ve always gotten but my only housecoat—
It’s neither made of gauze nor of brocade.
If you ask me, “What is the colour of it?”
I’d tell you that it's neither the red nor violet.
In summertime I wear it as a cooling shirt;
In winter it gets used for my warming rug.
From early winter to the balmy days of fall—
It's never out of use at all; year in, year out,
I’ve just wrapped myself up in this one but
Only shelter of my bones, not of my mind. . .
