I always hear people say, ‘Assort with those
Who are worthy and avoid all unworthy men.’
It seems people accept you if you are useful,
Otherwise, they reject you without any regret.
Who says that modesty can bring you fortune
While vanity cannot do the same thing to you?
Will your benevolence for the neighbourhood
Lead you to your proper place under the sun?
What I understand is that there’s nothing to do
Until we keep to discriminate between the two.
