Who is the true winner of the world?

He who goes out and in throughout the universe

At his simple pleasure. Roaming over

All the six continents, alone in going

Alone in coming, he is one whom we call

The sole possessor of his abilities to win the world;

And the sole possessor of such abilities

Is he who is regarded as the Noblest of All.

A pure vacancy of all pursuits and the so-called

'Empty goals' is what characterises him

As a person of virtue. When others employ his mind,

It's like a mirror -- he conducts nothing

And anticipates nothing from other people.

He responds to what is before him, but doesn't retain it.

For this reason, he is able to deal happily

With all of the people and injure none.

The teachings of him go forth as the shadow

Of the sublime; as the echo, without delay

Responded to its master-sound.

When questioned, he responds,

Exhausting from his own stores

All that is in the inquirer's mind,

As if front to front with all things

In the unbounded and infinite universe.
