Heaven's will is all to all of us --
Complete accordance with it
Is the brightest intelligence, but
Some obscurity is still in this --
This is the crucial reason
Of every obscure beginning.

Such being the case,
The explanation of it
Is as if it were no explanation;
The knowledge of it
Is as if it were no knowledge
Available to its pursuer.

At first we do not know it,
But afterwards we come
To the knowing of it.
In our inquiries, we must not
Set to ourselves any limits, and yet
We cannot be without limits.

Now ascending now descending,
Then slipping from the grasp --
The way of life is yet a real stuff,
Unchanged now as in the past,
And always without any scars
Or even scratches. . . The times
At large are beyond any damage.

May it not be called what is capable
Of a great display and expansion?
Why should we not inquire into it?
Why should we be perplexed about it?

For what obscure reason does not perplexity
Let us explain its occurring,
Until we cease to be completely perplexed?
May we arrive at freedom
From perplexity and enjoy the natural course
Of life to the fullest extent? . .
