Hey, listen! Hold your swift horses
Before wading the cold stream at dawn.
The summer is melting leisurely,
Breaking up into the rain and slush.
Shivering into deals and trades
Life is shrinking in width and length;
Squeezing out my spirit from the bones,
I'm trying to be in time for seeing off the sun.
The Life Tree of the world is lofty and shady
But heavens are higher to cover the mundane;
It can't be scrolled by catching the comet tail --
The nighttime sign of our love to bid farewell.
Why didn't we make a further go of it? . .
The world is quietly smoking the heavens
And hasten our waned passion getting out
Of swamp of sadness and bog of boredom.
And again I'm all by myself, fighting alone
With the same mills, meeting new deadlines,
And closing them off, and looking for refresh,
And earlier parting to reel another bustling coil.
How can I get out without reaching the bottom
Of the abyss which gobbles up all the lost souls
Interesting write concerning who, what and how. I suppose everyone questions their plight or degradation as we move along on life's quest. Your poem very interestingly posed questions about how and why we who we are, or where life takes up. Enjoyed!
Your poem seems to be a bit remorseful and regretting, especially the last line. But it does refer to rushing into things before they are ready and then, failing. Something we are prone to do.
The problem with ending a poem with a question is that it invites the reader to come up with all sorts of comments, ideas, solutions that may or may not be appropriate. The poem seems to move from the heavens ("waiting to see off the sun") to the fear of reaching bottom. In fact, it sounds like the perennial challenge we are all faced with, rising up and transcending, or falling down into the abyss with "all the lost souls".
