We look upon life as a stage,
And the kind of theatrical show,
Which must go on no matter what.
We like best is always high comedy,
Whether that comedy be a new law in draft,
Or a bill of rights, or a disbanding cabinet. . .
We always enjoy it, but I wish
We would sometimes be serious a bit.
Yes, humor, above all, is running the world.
But we can have too much of that golden laughter,
For it is the laughter of a villain, at the breath of whose
Every sprout of good sense withers and dies.
