One final poem today before I again hit the road tomorrow to make my way back to Doha. So, I will be offline for a few days. Many thanks to all those readers who have stuck by me.
One Perfect Moment
By John Herlihy
Lasting hope but a fleeting illusion,
Misery always arrives in profusion.
Merciful forgiveness often at hand,
Salvation lies in a far distant land.
A great silence lingers in the grave,
The world’s noise won’t anyone save.
Frisky ponies eat oats in the stable,
Manna served at the heavenly table.
Life’s chaff surrounds golden wheat,
The starving sheep graze and bleat.
Hardships arrive that will not cease,
The glass river mirrors eternal peace.
We all suffer from ups and downs,
I fret whenever I add extra pounds.
The wave gathers, mounts, and crests,
Its lip opens as if by magic wand blest.
The buds become petals that unfold,
The blue bells have a ring well tolled.
We long wait for this perfect moment,
Uplifted on the wings of pure sentiment.
Perfect moments are to be treasured as they are few and far between. The rest of the near perfect moments aren't so bad. The bad days get blown away with the wind eventually. I'll be waiting to read more of your writes again!!
There is a sense of beauty to life. I think it's rather akin to the sea as it rolls along the shore then retreats, only to roll ashore again. It is the way of Nature, to give and take, only to repeat the divine rhythm. I enjoyed this poem very much.
