The fate of the world
Held fast in a word.
Poetry on the lips
The sweetest ever heard.
The condemning word
Will always grate.
The uplifting word
May change fate.
Played out old words
Provide some discomfort.
False and erroneous words
Offer up little comfort.
Simple words
Feel like truth.
Exaggerated words
Harbor untruth.
The foolish word
Sounds as mania.
The clever word
Serves as panacea.
The shy word
May seem modest.
The angry word
Stands undressed.
Enough to know
Words have power.
Always ready
To empower.
The old school yard rhyme about sticks and stones has been proven wrong time and again, especially with the rampant scourge of bullying amongst kids today. Words do hurt when used callously but unlike sticks and stones the damage may not become visible until its too late.
