Where Majesty is Found
By John Herlihy
Majesty is not only found in monuments and potentates;
What appears majestic may innerly be mere reprobates.
The pillars of Corinth and Arc du Triumph may stand tall;
But they are constructed of stone and weathered after all.
Atilla the Hun built a kingdom from jaded visions of power;
Genghis Khan ruled his world until death cried his final hour.
Whether it be flesh and blood that flows in a person’s veins;
Or mortar and ancient stone that end as ruins and remains.
While the sense of majesty may fill the edifice of the mind;
The origins of its wonder may be drawn from another kind.
Great empires darkened by history as shadows from clouds;
Great men forgotten by history wrapped in ancient shrouds.
In the cavern of the heart lies an emotion never forgotten;
Sorrow contains a majesty from great suffering begotten.
Love ya!
