Wondering

By John Herlihy

Would you miss me more,

If I were gone?

Would you desire me more,

If I didn’t belong?

Would you give me up,

If I made a mistake?

Would you hold on to me,

If I were ready to break?

Would you laugh at me,

If I seemed crazy?

Would you scold me,

If I were lazy?

Would you hate me a while,

If I lied to you in guile?

Would you turn the other cheek,

If I were aggressive, not meek.

Would you hate me with scorn,

If I seemed like a thorn.

Would you love me forever,

If I said never?

Would you stay with me,

If I asked to be free?

Wondering has a way

Of saying yea or nay.

We may like or dislike

The answer it may say

WE WONDER AT THINGS THAT WE DON'T HAVE ANSWERS FOR. ONCE WE GET THE ANSWERS THEY ARE NO LONGER A WONDER BUT AN ACCEPTED OR REJECTED FACT. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATION

Very honest questions, in precise, to the point words. We were created in God's image, and He loves the just and unjust, and so His Son says we ought to be more like that. It is impossible to love like that when we are separated from Him, but all things are possible with Him. Beautiful, thoughtful write. Enjoyed. Thanks John

In-depth words and cool narrative (in my mind) are your biting thoughts within this amazing poem, John.

I think the sad fact about humans is we all want to please others and be liked, but no matter how good a person we are there are always some people that we can't please. So instead of pleasing some and losing some which is rather confusing we best just to be ourselves. When we are ourselves we do not need to pretend and let those who will like us to come to us.

A heartfelt poem, John! I have been wondering about the same things too, sometimes.

Hugs,
Sandie
