- One Brief Season -

By John Herlihy

Ah, how life seems but endless tomorrows,

How we steal the days as one who borrows.

The spring rains come upon us all too brief,

Seeming endless as they bestow their relief.

As the summer’s warmth blankets the earth,

Visions of glory appear in the garden’s rebirth.

As autumn’s decline brings notes of sadness,

Dying leaves wave their farewell in gladness.

Harsh winter cold harbors the longest season,

The world of nature dies but gives no reason.

Each season enjoys a fixed moment in time,

Each brings with it a lesson, yours and mine.

Life but a blink of an eye, as we rise and fall,

One brief season to make a mark, that is all.

DONE SO WELL, JOHN. FOR THOUGH THERE A 'SEASON FOR EVERYTHING' THE SEASONS ARE SO BRIEF, AS IS OUR LIVES. THANKS FOR SHARING, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

The wisdom you impart in this wonderful piece is so beautifully worded, John! We do go through our life as a season, indeed, life being a mere "blink of an eye,".

Love ya!

You very nearly outdid youurself with this one, my friend I don't worry, as many do, about what happens after we leave this earth, mentally and physially. I'm still having mine. Good to go. Gotta love it

This is a poem of great wisdom. The older I become, the more I think about the brevity of my time left. I do wonder if there is something beyond this earthly visitation. I love the way you have presented your
ideas here. You are a fine poet and deep thinker!

Dear John, we are like a crocus in the snow, endlessly waiting for God's sun to arise in our heart. And soon, He shall. Merry Christmas dear, xo

Visions of A Skylark Dressed in Black by Aberjhani

“The woman or man who is a poet, or fiction writer, or playwright, or all of these, is engaged constantly in a jazz ballet of vocabularies, passions, genders, histories, perspectives, death, love, and life. The music of revelation announces itself to
