The Old Paths
By John Herlihy
The old paths led through nature’s time,
Winding their way in a manner sublime.
Off to places we would not, could not go,
Places we would never otherwise know.
Wandering forests brushed by soft light,
Treading mystical pathways in our sight.
With no true direction and no true way,
Lost on leafy paths only wishing to stay.
In the distance, I see a luminous glow,
Beckoning me forth blessing to bestow.
Old pathways ask of us so much more,
They ask we give ourselves up to explore.
In giving ourselves up, we will soon find,
An inner world we seek in Nature’s mind.
