- The True Source -

By John Herlihy

We are often plagued by questions of source.

The true origin of our happiness and remorse?

Life changes on a whim in fleeting seconds,

Moods come and go before anyone reckons.

We ask the mind from where it draws thought,

But it can’t decide, too many thoughts wrought.

What is it that we make all our decisions on,

What is the source of guidance to lead us on.

All of us at one time or another made mistakes,

We thought we knew and we had what it takes.

Only to realize we are often groping in the dark,

Living life on sheer whim, everything is a lark.

I choose to believe God’s truth as true source,

Divine light as radiating center of eternal force.

I think it's quite easily to grab onto an "authority," to build our life around. It's comforting when the universe is constantly being revised by those seeking answers but never finding them.

Why I've taken the harder route and not hung my hat on some older, authoritative belief system that seems to have weathered the test of time and doesn't require me explaining myself.

Unfettered by that "authority," I am free to explore all philosophy and ethics, finding the very best to support my self-esteem that has always been strong without having to.

Great read to start my morning. Your writing gets my old brain percolating. This is a special favorite so far. You have started the new year on a high note indeed.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
