-- I Know Not --

By John Herlihy

I know not what destiny is held In my day,

Enough to know my destiny will have its say.

I know not what the future will bring,

I dare only to think, to imagine, to take wing.

I know not what life has in store,

To be content with less and not ask for more.

I know not what life’s mystery entails,

Only that it inspires, keeps me on the rails.

I know not what is truly of me expected,

Enough to know that in God I am protected.

I know not the coming of the hour,

I do know it as final with irreversible power.

I know not what will happen in the beyond;

I only imagine light on a shimmering pond.

I do know a truth most vital to know;

We are unique and evanescent, like a flake of snow.

And so it goes, reflecting on our lives and giving nature (snowflakes) the chance to remind us of just how minuscule, yet precious, existence is. Fine write.

Sometimes, it's better not to know what the future entails for us. This way there's always hope for better days.

All I know, is that what I don't know, far out weighs what I do Know. Ditto what Marvin said.

I love the way you compare us to snowflakes. I agree no two are the same, and though they are beautiful to watch when they have their moment of birthing light, they too have their hour, Sweet poem, transient in thought but long lasting on the mind. Have a great day dear John xo
