-- WHAT WE SEEK --

By John Herlihy

There is no end to what we seek,

Haunting shadows always and forever bleak.

To float up with the wind and the breeze,

To fall dying as autumn’s colored leaves.

Phantom ghosts of the mind do arise,

Tempting enticements do offer surprise.

Justice demands that we receive our recompense,

We simply ignore those things we did in offence.

Life’s mystery enticing in a blade of grass,

Hidden desires tempting as they steadily amass.

We feel outrage when all our dreams are gone,

We feel loss when all our endeavors go wrong.

Loyalty found in friendship now until the end,

Happiness in the heart that we cannot pretend.

An invisible mark identifies the heart’s intent,

Our signature written in dust erases all we meant.

I ENJOYED THIS ARTISTIC WORK, ALL OF IT; PROSE, RHYME SEQUENCE, METER AND STYLE. AND, I WOULD GUESS IF WHAT YOU SAY IS TRUE...THE HEART BEING WHAT IT IS AND HARDLY KNOWING WHAT OR HOW TO SEEK THOSE THINGS THAT DON'T TURN TO DUST... IT WOULD BE WISE TO TAKE 'HIS' ADVICE AND 'FIRST' SEEK 'HIS' KINGDOM AND...THEN...EVERYTHING ELSE WILL FOLLOW. NO? THANK YOU, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
