--- A Long Life ---

If I live a long life,
May I find myself ready to go.
If I live a short life,
Some things I will never know.
If I live a happy life,
God did His Mercy bestow.
If I live a sad life,
God did a challenge throw.
If I endure the winter season,
I will outlast the peace of snow.
If I do survive to see the spring season
I will plant and watch my garden grow.
If then summer comes my way,
I will greet the dragon and firefly each day.
If I stay to see the autumn season,
I will send the falling leaves on their way.
Whatever happens hour by hour,
We meet the moment with inner power.
Whatever life that we come to know,
We are but seeds that grow.
God gives what we need, nothing to spare;
May God give us nothing we cannot bear.

I contemplated what would've happened had I died from that pneumonia in 2012. I already knew about the iPad and iPhone. I got an inkling that Tesla was going to be self driving and had a hankering to go to Mars. But I didn't know that Trump would be elected and the circus that ensued. And I cannot, but see the seeming rise of gun violence erupting all over the world where people act out video game fantasies killing as many people as they can over some weird ideology or another. And, finally, I think I have witnessed some of the first real threats happening to the weather because of long anticipated global warming.
