-- One Last Look -– John Herlihy The last goodbye, Now over and past. The last kiss, Never truly last. The last word, Never again heard. The last smile, Does linger a while. The last hope Very little rope The last day, Now stolen away. The last hour, But a rain shower. The last second, No one reckoned. One last look, Holding my hand. Oh, wow, such an identifiable expression for all of us who have suffered the loss of someone we cherished. This has both live and deceased qualities that resonate on both levels for me, having experienced both kinds of loss and reluctance to let go. The gateway to sorrow you often portray for us to appreciate, both your suffering and our own identity is truly a generous gift. Thank you, John. You are special.
