-- God’s Infinite Realm --

John Herlihy

Beyond human imagination lies the reach of God’s infinite realm,

Beyond all known horizon stands the Grand Master at the helm.

The helm of a spirit ship to ply endless waters without any shore,

To sprinkle the eternal darkness with the dust of stars and more.

We speak of time as a partridge gathering lift from the wind,

But in the realm of eternity, time but a thief willing to pretend.

Pretend to have its moments gathered in minutes and hours,

True reality lies far beyond anything we see in our gilded towers.

Why, then, are we locked into the fantasy that each of us matter,

The eye of our egos filtered by a lens whose purpose is to flatter.

Flatter a mortal self, a lower soul, into imagining the unknown,

A realm not of our making, from the light of stars into fabric sewn.

Who can say that Allah may have wearied those endless days to roam,

Through all the eternities and infinities that He called His beloved home.

A home whose hearth burns in solitude to the Grand Master unknown,

Ah, to have a creature, a multitude of them, to know as He has known.

The Divine Imagination poured forth the plenitude of universal law,

The planets in their orbit, stars and galaxies to fill eyes that ever saw.

A remote corner of the universe with its rising sun and turning earth,

With a human being, hand-made of clay and water, the first birth.

Yes, made in the so-called Image of the Master Carver, in precise style,

The ground of the soul and the breath of the spirit to linger a while.

He breathed into the human soul the life-giving breath of his Spirit,

Tenderly, lovingly, with a trust to thrive on the blessing of its merit.

At last, the dream of consciousness became a reality in this creation,

Nurtured in this living soul by the forces of the human Imagination.

An imagination to reach beyond itself in surrender to a universe spun,

Into the light of a central vortex now witnessed as the universal One.

EACH OF US DOES MATTER...TO GOD. AND JUST HOW FAR HE FILLS THE DESIRE TO VENTURE INTO THE UNDERSTANDING 'OF' HIS REALM IS UP TO HIM, FOR REMEMBER...HIS WAYS OUR HIGHER THAN OUR AS THE HEAVENS ARE HIGHER THAN THE EARTH. BUT THEN, OF COURSE, ONE CAN ALWAYS IMAGINE. THANK YOU FOR THIS WELL DONE SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

A dear friend once suggested I watch, "Zeitgeist. The Movie." It seems a multitude of stories of the creation are so similar. I'm talking continents apart, John. Thank you for this one.

Love ya!

Being a secularist, humanist with a strong Budist influence, I found this expression accessable and thoughtful, avoiding the usual "God" pedantic preaching that tends to turn off skeptics of rigid belief (oh, so many). Rathe, you have provided a view that qualifies for critical thinking. For some of us, there is a belief in infinite creation houses in the stars as existence "beyond our understanding." For that, I am an investigator, embracing both science and sprituality. Thank you for posting.

There have been so many varied ways this story(?) has been told and retold and . . . Each one is truth if it matters so. I've never told my story of that far-away time because I don't believe the original one.

A lovely retelling of the Creation Story. I enjoyed this very much.
