-- This Sacred Realm --
John Herlihy
Nature’s fine dress sets forth feelings soothing,
All the while distant mountains loom brooding.
This holy cairn seems made of much finer stuff,
To mark the wonders of the Divinity as enough.
The surface of a lake smooth as mirrored glass,
Crystalline as air that holds earth firm and fast.
The mountains dressed for summer in dark pines,
Trees standing as proud sentinels in straight lines.
For centuries, summer suns stood at earth’s helm,
While sunlight fell unabashed in this sacred realm.
The solitudes offered a sense of peace and repose,
As poets take delight in a way no one else knows.
A sublime vision untouched by the hands of man,
Crafted with loving touch by the Divine Command.
