-- Two Lovers -- John Herlihy Two lovers, still in love Light shines from above Difficult to describe Their union, brimming alive Mutual trust to endure Feeding a love pure In lockdown all day In lockdown day after day Now separated from all other They still have each other At times go their own way Busy with little to say No need for extra words Their thoughts flutter as birds At night, they settle down Hints of a smile, never a frown Moonlight shines overhead As they snuggle in the bed She whispers her worry He listens with no hurry Soon her words will slur Deep breath begins to occur He now feels her weight Into dreams she passed a gate He followed soon thereafter Chasing her with laughter The simple fact of her The simple fact of him Two wings, one dove Two lovers, still in love - - - - - - (c) John Herlihy 28 March 2020

I have known couples like this. And I've known couples who have passed and nearly the same time. I believe that is what you are referring to. It is so sad when a couple that is so in love is separated by the death of one. The other takes considerable time to grieve and come to the realization of living alone again.

This is truly lovely, and quite a nice change from some of the comments I've been reading about the stresses that quarantine is causing in relationships. I guess it's in times like this that we find out how strong our relationships really are. Too bad they're not all as strong as you've described here.
