-- Intimacy --
John Herlihy
Intimacy a gem we hold most dear,
Born of an impulse we hold ever near.
In our daily lives, intimacy wanders afar,
Held in the distance as a dwindling star.
A veil in the wind that we need to lift,
The breath of wind that we need to sift.
A door that opens into a strange realm,
With loving richness there to overwhelm.
The mystery of fire, the secret of smoke,
Intimacies surround us as tender hope.
Intimacy unveiled seems as inside out,
Now a secret revealed we wish to shout.
Intimacy allows sweet mystery to unfold,
Whispers and sighs are anxious to be told.
There side by side, our heads on the pillow,
Two hearts beat as one in the rising billow.

My twin brother and I have some political differences, but we are still intimate when it comes to understanding one another and working closely with one another even add a thousand mile distance from one another. Emailing back and forth daily.
