-- Put to the Test --

Questions arise if democracy is now put to rest;

Perhaps we ourselves are being put to the test.

Words no longer have the force of their meaning;

Instead they stride and strut like peacocks preening.

Futile arguments but cotton candy from sugar spun,

Statements and claims from dirty washrags wrung.

Truths now called out for being a kind of false hoax;

Falsehoods raise to levels of truth, indeed a true hoax.

Still, political cronies end up finding themselves in jail,

Experiencing the punishment that lies beyond the pale.

The supreme head of state acted upon the evil he saw;

When all the while he considered himself above the law.

Only we the people can the soul of the nation preserve;

May the soul of the people reflect all they rightly deserve.

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS IN A TERRIBLE STATE...SLIDING FURTHER AND FURTHER AWAY FROM TRUE DEMOCRACY. IT IS PERFECTLY OBVIOUS WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES AND I ESPECIALLY AGREE ENTIRELY WITH YOUR LAST TWO LINES; WE THE PEOPLE...HAVE GOT TO 'STAND UP TO THE TEST' AND MAKE THE CHANGE IN NOVEMBER. AND THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Like the Beatles brought down the Soviet Union, the Internet combined with cell phone ability to capture videos of events by nearly everyone that were only captured by the words and cameras of journalists in the past, have made the world, the whole world, a much more democratic place. Those who seek to manipulate power by their own devices, are easily defeated by the ubiquitous, some find appalling, "big brother," all around. The bad can no longer hide from the good, from the people.

With every public appearance. With every Twitter. With every pronouncement, the craftily elected president, not of the people, reveals himself for what he really is. We don't need a PT Barnum any more to make us feel good. What we need is leadership. The media is now in the hands of the people. Not in the hands of political pundits and hacks..

That's what your poem tells me. I hope I haven't overdone it.

Oh how we need a leader who can lead and unite us, instead of dividing us. And he's doing a damn good job of dividing us.

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
