-- The Perfume of Words --
John Herlihy
But say the word,
And I will do your bidding.
You chirp like a bird,
And no, I am not kidding.
Your words hold breath,
That spreads as perfume.
When I have no words left,
And can nothing more assume.
Say the word aloud,
My fragile mind to arouse.
I now drift in a cloud,
Poetic thoughts to espouse.
Your words a perfume hold,
This is what the poem told.
