-- Life’s Spirit -- John Herlihy Our sight sees but surface, Our vision lies there beneath. Facts provide some purpose, But wisdom our laurel wreath. Our projections are guesswork, Our estimates only child’s play. Thinking we know a kind of perk, Say anything, with nothing to say. Our sight traces surface and edge, Shapes, colors, those textures thrill. But our insight offers us a pledge, Life’s meaning to remember still. Its only when we breathe in life that we can summon up the truth of it, otherwise its all surface talk, Nicely penned dear John, Have a great Sunday

As we all "skim life's surface" I would hope that we all would garner some wisdom along the way that we can impart to the younger generation like has always been the case.

We could leave it to Wikipedia, YouTube or Google to do it for us, but it would be far better if we would engage the younger population from their point of view often and more directly.

An insightful piece of wordsmithing. The sad message for this reader is that the consciousness level of far too many of humankind is just as you say: surface. Perhaps when we accept that we're not the only life in the cosmos and are fortunate to someday understand the purpose of so many extraterrestrial visits documented (especially in Africa), perhaps then we will recognize that living externally may be our downfall.
