-- The Ugliness of Pride --
John Herlihy
You know what you don’t possess,
You know who you are never are.
Never holding back, ready to confess,
Shining always as a distant star.
Your pride a thing of ugliness,
Dark waters that feel murky.
Your voice echoes of boastfulness,
Your face features a soul haughty.
Your attitude nauseating to behold,
Worthy to despise, full of disgrace.
In taking your hand I pride hold,
Corruption, deceit mark your face.
In pride witness ugliness of soul,
More than that need never be told.

-- The Beauty of Humility --
John Herlihy
You don’t know what you possess,
You don’t know who you are.
Always holding back, ready to confess,
Shining briefly as a distant star.
Your humility a thing of beauty,
A still reservoir that runs deep.
With placed waters soft, velvety,
Your face features a soul meek.
Your attitude touching to behold,
Worthy to admire, full of grace.
I take your hand humility to hold,
Purity, simplicity mark your face.
In humility witness beauty of soul,
More than that need never be told.
