-- These Days --
John Herlihy
These days I don’t need much,
Still, these days offer so much.
An open window in the bedroom,
Rustling leaves soften night cries.
Firefly stars fly past the window
Moonglow makes day of the night.
A brush of cool breeze tenderly felt,
White lace curtains blowing loose.
My head on the pillow, another day,
And now peaceful rest til morning.
How glorious to simply drift away,
A loon beckoning in the distance.
Calling me to some distant place,
The smell of perfume, what a gift,
Waves of night jasmine drift in.
These days I don’t need much,
Still, these days offer so much.
