-- True Intelligence --
John Herlihy
We are a long way from true intelligence,
Such distance to be measured in light years.
Blind vision descended as divine inheritance,
Heard as echoes in the music of the spheres.
Our limited intelligence deals with the finite,
Human reason climbing the ladder of logic.
True intelligence deals in realms of the infinite,
Revealing a wondrous world of sublime magic.
A noble imperative to fuel the fire of the mind,
Luminosity in light with inner visions that glow.
First principles found in a spring of another kind,
Rarefied knowledge we may not otherwise know.
The secrets of the mind may not be forthcoming,
Trapped as they are in the winter of cold reason.
Secrets wishing to be told and virtually brimming,
Waiting for inherent blessing in any other season.
First knowledge, true knowledge, felt as incisive light,
Showering the corridors of the mind in celestial rays.
Fueled by eternal mystery seen in the stars of night,
Sacred awe filled in human hearts from divine blaze.
The vast totality of the human mind cannot snugly fit,
The awesome vision of pure intelligence of this kind.
Our task to combine our limited intelligence with wit,
To shatter all the misconceptions that make us blind.
Our thought fallen in the mirror of Divine Intelligence,
Our breath drawn from the breath of the Divine Spirit.
Our visions observed thru the vision of the Divine Eye,
Our ears listen to holy revelations of the Divine Voice.
The seat of the intelligence lies not in mind but heart,
The quintessential organ for all human perception.
The niche of all sacred sentiment turned into fine art,
True intelligence and pure love in search of perfection.
