-- A Sense of Light --
John Herlihy
Even when the lights are dim,
A lamp still glows from within.
Radiance from behind the eyes,
From an inner horizon to arise.
An illumined gaze to take note,
As a castle encircled by a mote.
Gleaming shield noble and proud,
Shining rays behind sunset cloud.
Not all people have such a flare,
Some from dark emptiness stare.
Lost forever that sense of light,
To see the world in living night.
Let not shadows dim inner glow,
A sense of one’s own light to know.

I get out daily to get a little sun, staring at the clouds ever-changing and marvel at the silver linings I see as the sun reappears when the clouds move over and across the sun's direct path to my body, heating it up and providing a tough, tanned skin for my survival.
Even with my eyes closed, I sometimes can see it through leaks in my eyelids. But please, cancer, stay away like you have already all these years.
Ron
May your light always shine brightly within…
