-- With Love Now Gone --
John Herlihy
With love now gone,
Echoes linger of a song.
Dissipated, evaporated,
Once seemed elevated.
Never to be restored,
Never to be adored.
Never to be extended,
Now only upended.
What was it they said,
How freely their hearts bled.
In love when their eyes met,
Distance now in their eyes set.
As elusive as a subtle taste,
Nurturing seems but waste.
As tenuous as a rare scent,
Trackless as a wave spent.
Where did the love go,
Lost in the oblivion of snow.
Winter left behind in the eyes,
Gone the miracle of surprise.

( Tennyson, In Memoriam A.H.H.)
Would it be better that those elevated and wonderful feelings were
never experienced?
Love is always a risk….no guarantees for eternal reciprocation…
…is nurturing ever a waste?
I hope to be always open to the miracle of surprise…
Another excellent thought provoking poem…
Diana…
I found myself always being depressed after what seemed like a substantial love dissipated, blaming myself for what had happened. In the end it may have been for the best.
