-- Writing into Oblivion --

John Herlihy

For a few years now, I am on course,

Writing poems to my heart’s content.

Such outpouring with little remorse,

No cause for sorrow and no lament.

I might write myself into oblivion,

Without so very much left to say.

Now bereft of all accrued wisdom,

Ambling along my own solitary way.

It has been fine while my muse lasted,

She was with me every step and stumble.

Oh, how I wish her whispers be extended,

Otherwise, I must resort to mere mumble.

My muse comes to me of her own free will,

I await her enchantment in patience still.

AH...THE MUSE! THAT PERFECTION THAT NEVER GIVES ONE TOO MUCH OR TOO LITTLE. THAT SPIRIT OF INSPIRATION THAT WRITERS WAIT FOR PATIENTLY. HOW 'IN TOTAL CHARGE' HE IS....INDEED! THANK YOU, JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

My Muse - I call him My Inspiration. Sometimes he would hide from me when I need him. He has his own mind. He comes whenever he wants me to write.

Wishing you many more years of productivity. You've long ago passed up the 10,000-hour rule and must be working on your 20th or 30th.

I know this place you speak of, and the onslaught of incertitude's that accompany it. Been through it many times. I liken it to a rose bush that at some point needs to be pruned back to nubs to allow for another season of verdant growth. God forbid that John Herlihy ever mumbles. Thanks for your honesty. Well done. r
