I wish everything were simple,

So we can easily find our way.

Even a silky day has a wrinkle,

If the unexpected has its say.

I wish everyone could be happy,

Without any need to feel remorse.

As a baby smiling in a fresh nappy,

Happiness a spring found at source.

I wish people never felt need to lie,

Truth always meant to be the norm.

All falsehoods merely the truth defy,

Bringing into the light of day a storm.

I wish I wasn’t always feeling so alone,

Find such purity in the trust of a friend.

Solitude in danger of loneliness prone,

We are meant to be together in the end.

I wish on others the power of good will,

To change the world, brighten its mood.

While darkness of ill will shadows us still,

We will carve ourselves into a image crude.

I wish the world suffered no more sorrow,

Sorrows enough, we know what they mean.

As dawn lifts the night shutters tomorrow,

A gentle breeze to sweep all sorrows clean.

I wish my wishing will make things happen,

Good intentions as a stately river to flow.

May all the hearts in the world now gladden,

Not simply to wish for, but realize and know.
