There are people who have everything,

But they have no dreams.

There are people who have nothing,

But they have a dream.

What people don’t have,

They can’t give away.

The dream a person may have,

No one can take away.

This isn’t about nighttime dreams,

That seem forever but last a moment.

This is about daytime dreams,

That seem a moment but last a lifetime.

The dream arrived in childhood,

Its origin never known.

Stayed with him through adulthood,

Its origin never needed to be known.

A dream with tenacity and promise,

A dream that wasn’t a mere wish.

Like the tempting wishes of the genie,

False wishes easily served on a dish.

A dream that drove him forward,

A passion that lasted a lifetime.

A dream he kept wanting to have,

A dream he kept having, a dream lived.

There are people who have everything,

But they have no dreams.

There are people who have nothing,

But they live their dream.
