Words intimate, pure

Speak to me of love

On the wings of a dove

Such tender words to say

Such deep emotion to convey

Between them, no distance

Nothing to offer resistance

Never knew such romance

The rhythms of love’s dance

From where such easy grace

From where her loving face

Her skin felt like silk

Her eyes creamy milk

Her heart fully open

True love to betoken

As a blind man traced

Smile lines of her face

She laid her head down

A flower fallen to ground

Her image never to fade

Now thru memory to wade

Her glow as moonlight

In the mystery of night

Night birds call with ease

Sweetly flows gentle breeze

I hear a murmured voice

Alone in darkness I rejoice

My throbbing heart be still

Only echoes of a whippoorwill

Love feels as a river, calm

Enduring as a sacred psalm

The memory flows ever on

Into the realm of beyond

Head bowed, softly kissed

Eyes closed, still missed
