-- Old Souls --

John Herlihy

Old souls thrive forever young,

Their melodies as mystery sung.

With wisdom they never learned,

Rare insights into hearts burned.

Passing hours serve as a prayer,

Their dreams do ward off despair.

From birth, their faces will glow,

Throughout their lives, they know.

The young soul polishes its soul,

The old soul shines as moonglow.

Ever searching and journeyed far,

Drawn by light of the North Star.

Thru the thin ice of every surface,

Probing depths to find purpose.

See things that no one else sees,

Hear things that no one else hears.

Their emotions unveil the mystery,

To find truth in the eye of certainty.

Or perhaps to find peace in the eye of uncertainty.
Your well seems to always run full. Keep them coming.

Your poem is so right. Old souls generally have no concern about gathering information for their aging thoughts. Still they gather the right things to put together, near the end of their lives, the wisdom that was drawn out of life itself. Lessons learned leading to certainties for the life of the learner.
