-- An Act of Kindness –
John Herlihy
Sometimes we feel we are being put upon,
Sometimes we feel we are just hanging on.
By the thinning threads of that frayed rope,
Imagining misty illusions of misguided hope.
Holding something solid, like a sheet of ice,
Endless days seasoned with a touch of spice.
Strapped into a parachute and flying so high,
The wind lifting us up as we roam in the sky.
Whenever I feel let down, I sit among trees,
Amid the whisper of leaves, buzzing of bees.
Thinking something better will come along,
Hope’s promise always makes a lilting song.
If something good coming, I adopt firmness,
Resolve to see things thru an act of kindness.
If something worse coming, I just walk away,
An act of kindness in leaving, rather than stay.
