Anger boils over and overheats the mind;

With hurt, a veil descends to make us blind.

Anger rages in the head a while, then fades;

Hurt blocks light and other feelings shades.

Anger erupts like a volcano but doesn’t linger;

Hurt points in the mind like an accusing finger.

For a brief moment, anger has us feel deranged;

But with hurt, all of our emotions feel arranged.

There is an urgency to answer that never waits;

An endless quality to hurt that never abates.

Anger’s shock has an impact that doesn’t last;

Hurt wraps us in its cloak and never fully past.

The anger you inspire in me is never for long;

But when hurt’s words strike me, I am gone.
