-- The Heart Has No Mysteries --

John Herlihy

The heart never shares mysteries,

Its deep cavern not ready to reveal.

As the sky never shares fantasies,

Its plate of blue willing to conceal.

Its interests, its loves, and its desires,

Swell and fade as phases of the moon.

Its tender-hearted warmth inspires,

A host of emotions born in its womb.

The heart speaks with a voice clear,

Whether cold, warm, black or tender.

A soft caress or cut open by its spear,

The heart exudes a force to remember.

A heart’s mystery we never fully know,

Yet still takes us where we want to go.

THE WORD OF GOD SAYS WE SHOULD BE LEARY OF THE THINGS THAT COMES OUT OF THE HEART...AND THE WORD OF GOD IS NEVER WRONG. BUT IN ANY CASE, THIS SIMPLY IMPLIES TO ME THAT THE HEART IS A VARIED AS THE INDIVIDUALS THAT IT RESIDE IN. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Yes. Such a dichotomy of feeling the heart produces. If only that "spear" could be modified... at least in its habitual visits that so often come at an inopportune time.

Well done... as usual.

How many of us have kept hidden from someone our love and longings for them? I believe it's a universal thing.

Very true my friend. The heart holds no secrets, unless that heart belongs to someone else. Then it is a mystery with many secrets.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
