-- Living Grace --
John Herlihy
Those mountains, rivers, and lakes,
Far more than just a pretty picture.
Gaze upon them, the heart breaks,
Indelible signs as enduring fixture.
Those distant stars seem to beckon,
In the depths of darkness so remote.
Many millions, captured in a second,
Light streams shimmer as they float.
The infinite spectacle of nature’s face,
Those sun flowers, blue-bells, daffodils.
No question, answer, just living grace,
Much forgotten, this remembered still.
The oneness of it all sinks into the soul,
Disparate elements finally made whole.

As I read this poem and reflected upon the beauty of nature, I had to close my eyes and whisper a “thank you” to my God above for allowing me to witness the awesomeness of nearly all of our National parks since my retirement. What can I say? I am humbled beyond words. Thank you, John. Once again, you have touched my soul.
