-- Reaching Beyond Our Lives -- John Herlihy A river of light flows thru us, its impact survives, A higher purpose reaching far beyond our lives. Many people live life not knowing what it means, Blinded by the ignorance, a wasted life it seems. To feel ripples of this river upon our inner shore, Blessings amid the hardship into our hearts pour. Through the darkest days, crystal slivers of hope, Patience and courage of what my mother spoke. An hour finally arrives with a feeling all now lost, All the suffering and effort endured at great cost. Yet the river within flows onward, ever persistent, All the while dark whispers within, ever resistant. That guiding and driving force within has been described in many ways, both secularly and spiritually, but here in your poem, such power is given an exploration that asks we not choose sides of belief, but merely allow. It's there for all, in forms of one's choice.
