-- Resurrection --
By John Herlihy
Resurrection lies in the breath of spring,
From bud to bloom a flower’s heart sings.
Such perfume not even poets can describe,
Only its reality in mind and heart inscribe.
Morning mist spreads everywhere its wonder,
Gentle spring breezes try to steal its thunder.
Skeletal trees stretch their limbs to awaken,
The morbidity of winter snows melt forsaken.
Winter’s shadow of death allows life to arrive,
As nature’s grand procession shouts alive, alive.
Flooded now all the great rivers and streams,
Down cliffs into valleys as the eagle screams.
All of nature, breath of life, born once again,
Beating hearts and souls uplifted, we cry Amen.
