The night is dark,

The lamp is lit.

Wind whispers, hark,

In a chair, I sit.

In my mind, I think,

Thoughts begin to wander.

To the edge, to the brink,

On life – my life – I ponder.

I know where I have been,

Seeking, lost, and yes found.

Questions arise: where, when,

Answers descend: mystery profound.

I see another lamp lit,

In the distance, on the way.

Approaching me where I sit,

Lonesome with nothing to say.

Yet say something I will,

The lamp peace brings.

All thoughts now still,

As my heart sweetly sings.
